Material Transformation
Sculpture Class

In Material Transformation we will explore our access to other physics.
Through manipulation and creation of textures, shapes and colors we can transform a material given behaviour, we can make an object be perceived as growing or melting or decaying or we can make the material it is made of be interpreted differently through the crafted texture, color and shape.

In this weekly class we will research how an object holds and expresses information about time, in the sense of how we identify or assume different processes an object has gone or will go through. We will experiment with forms, vectors ,material behaviour, projected qualities and gravity manipulation.

Composition, structure and space relations will all play a part in our process towards an integrated sculptural decision making. Each participant will pursue individual artistic interest in a collaborative effort to learn from all processes, attempts and thoughts in the room.

Material Transformation is a space to explore and learn different strategies to create 3d objects. We will focus on clay as our base material and learn and form relationships with other materials such as plaster, concrete and self made compounds from various building materials.

Classes will be led by Yoav Admoni, an interdisciplinary artist working with sculpture, dance and performance. Admoni graduated with a BFA specializing in Sculpture from the Bezalel academy of Arts in Jerusalem in 2009 and an MFA in Public Art and New Artistic Strategies from the Bauhaus university in Weimar in 2014. Admoni has been working and exhibiting his work for more than a decade and has been a facilitator of various workshops in the context of dance, performance and sculpture.
